Admittedly, I have the very first model of the iPhone. And it’s a dinosaur just a few years later. The glass is even broken from when I dropped it recently. I watched all the new next generation iPhones come out but just hung in there with my old one.
That’s so unlike me. I like the latest and greatest in technology. But being the first to buy new technology, or as some call it – being an early adopter, has it’s drawbacks.
Sure it’s fun to be the first to whip out the gadget and text away. Or take a picture and send it to your friends. On the bottom of your email, it’s not missed that you sent it from your iPhone – busy and cool person that you are.
Here’s how I use my iPhone:
- Make Calls: At first my fingers smudged the glass. But I got use to it quickly. I liked the speaker phone feature too, when I don’t use an ear bug. I like the big numbers on the pad and I can conference, put callers on hold and even send an email.
- SMS – text messaging. I keep in contact with my friends by texting. It’s especially useful when you’re sitting on an airplane, right before a flight takes off. I often fidget, but texting keeps me occupied. I find it handy to text to my friends and let them know what’s going on. After the flight, I find it handy to let my driver know I have arrived.
- GPS Without a GPS, my sense of direction is challenged if the city is not on a grid. Often, I can get lost, especially in a new city. It’s really convenient to look up an address and get turn-by-turn directions to my destination. Even if I am walking.
- Pictures I was never much of a camera person. I hated lugging around the bulky device. But with the iPhone, I can snap pictures and send them to my pals. I also demand pictures of others, since I am pretty nosy when someone is on vacation without me.
- email Where would I be without email? I have about 10 accounts and all of them need thoughtful replies. I tend to write too much, when at home on my Mac, but when I use my iPhone’s email feature it provides a snappy response. Sure does save time.
You may be wondering if I will still be an early adopter and run out and get the iPad when it comes out. The answer is probably.
